After having to, once again, completely remove all of the photographs of my latest series from Instagram, I decided to make an addition to how I showcase my work. While this platform (Substack) is geared towards towards the written word, it also allows the ability to share imagery without (heavy) censorship. Patreon came to mind but I’m not a fan of the tiered paying system; I just want a way to share my work with others and not have to worry about extreme censorship. I’ll continue to post on Instagram and Threads, however I’m testing out releasing photographs (and series’) through this platform as well.
I have always been a fan of the blog format so this seemed like a nice, niche, fit for me. I can add in some written word, thoughts, quotes, poetry excerpts, etc. to go along with the photographs I choose to showcase. And while the design aspect isn’t the greatest (as far as I can tell), I am a fan of classic structure and simplicity (hence my love affair with analog cameras and film).
So here we are— and if you’re receiving this in an email, you were once on my newsletter list (that I haven’t used in quite some time). I apologize for the abrupt add, but I hope you enjoy this new method. To end this new beginning, I’m adding in a few unreleased Polaroids from my recent trip to Paris, France. I’m still trying to decide if I should release the work from my time there as a series, or just showcase the photographs more randomly. Eventually, I’ll decide.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about this shift! Please don’t hesitate to respond.
These are gorgeous! Excited to see what you’ll do in this space.
I too have felt the heavy hand of Meta, so am interested in your thoughts and experiences here.
