Italy wasn’t what I was expecting. Thinking back, I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting—however, the trip I had wasn’t it. I don’t mean that in a bad way; nothing went horribly wrong, I don’t have any negative stories or situations, and for the most part, I had a great time. Of course, some unpleasantries arose—but when you’re traveling for three weeks, it’s hard to avoid anything subpar or slightly frustrating.
While there, I was able to view thousands of artworks, walk down cobblestoned streets older than anything I’ve ever experienced, meet people I’d long wanted to see in person, and cross paths with new acquaintances. What I’m most proud of, though, is giving myself time to relax. I didn’t pack my schedule or try to do far too much. I kept it fairly simple—kind to my body and mind. I was very deliberate, photographing only a few times. That said, I’ll happily admit the weather, being more than 20 degrees above normal for that time of year, completely threw off my plan, and I opted to stay in far more than I had anticipated.
Even so, I was able to create with a few wonderful models (thank you Cecilia, Irene, and Laura) and produce a strong selection of new artworks from those sessions. I’ve been slowly releasing some of these over the past several weeks on both Substack and Instagram, but I wanted to gather them all in one place, to showcase, and to freeze in time. I’ve also included a few unreleased pieces as well, for your viewing pleasure. Lastly, unless noted, each of these artworks are available for purchase. At the moment, they are unframed, however I’ll be framing a couple very soon! Please contact me if you’re interested.
